About Becky
After qualifying with a BA Ed (First) in 2001 (English specialism) I taught Key Stage Two pupils in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
I took further training to identify mathematical misconceptions and enhance mathematics skills for pupils between the ages of 6 and 11 who found maths challenging.
My experience also includes working alongside, educating and engaging pupils who manage: Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, ADHD, Autism or Anxiety.

Approach
My Approach
As a qualified Neuro-Linguistic Practitioner (NLP) I use language to encourage motivation and apply this positive approach to enhance pupils’ learning. I actively promote ‘The Growth Mindset’ in my lessons. (See Dr. Carol Dweck)

Growth Mindset
This approach enables children to view challenges positively, as a way to learn and progress. There is no such thing as failure – only growth.

Psychology
Prior to teaching I studied child psychology. Therefore have a natural interest in the connection between learning, behaviours and self-esteem.

Fun
Learning = Enjoyment = Performance
We ensure we have fun!

Individual Strength Building
Each pupil is an individual. My role is to enable them to achieve their highest academic level, whilst knowing they are valued for exactly who they are.

Dynamic Teaching
I use a range of teaching techniques. These include direct teaching with presentations; independent study with adult guidance; working with a partner; mathematical and vocabulary quizzes as well as a wide range of interactive games that provide my pupils with an outstanding vocabulary.
